OPENNING CEREMONY OF TURKSTREAM
EVENT’S STORY EVENT’S STORYTurkStream pipeline that will carry Russian natural gas to Turkey and Europe through Turkey was launched today with an openning ceremony held in Istanbul.
The ceremony in Instanbul, Turkey, was attended by the President Erdoğan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
TurkStream natural gas pipeline project consists of two pipelines (TA1 and TA2) installed under the Black Sea, 930 km long and 2200 km deep, and each of which has a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters gas transportation.
The first string will deliver gas to Turkey, while the second string is intended for gas transit to southern and southeastern Europe through Turkish territory, then passing through Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary.
A 400 km long pipeline will be built for the Serbian leg of the project.
TurkStream emerges ashore on the Turkish coast in the Thrace region, the town of Kıyıköy.
The agreement regarding the TurkStream natural gas pipeline project was signed on 10 October 2016 and entered into force on 21 February 2017.
