THIRD OIC MEMBER STATES CONFERENCE ON MEDIATION ISTANBUL

Hosted by Turkey, the 3rd Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States Conference on Mediation held in Istanbul.

Underlining the unbearable human tragedy in Syria, Minister of Foregin Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu pointed out the need for "preventive diplomacy" and "peaceful resolution of conflicts" in his opening speech at the 3rd Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States Conference on Mediation.

After the opening speech of Çavuşoğlu, the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Moratinos made a presentation at the conference.

In his presentation, Moratinos stressed the importance of diplomacy and mediation in resolving international conflicts, also preventing conflicts.

Stating that he supports the conduct of mediation activities before military intervention, Moratinos said that mediation methods should be developed and increased in the 21st century.
